Glamping in China

It is some years since I went camping and I really think I've been there and done that. It's bit like backpacking, there's a certain age where it really appeals, but you grow out to it. I have great memories of caping but I wouldn't like to do it again. So when my wife discovered a little get away in the woods (it's a bamboo woods of course) I hesitated. However when she showed me the luxury accommodation (from a futuristic tree house to fabulous A frame huts) with all mod cons and a nearby I decided it would be a different experience of my youth in a barely waterproof tent in the rain. It turns out it's a thing and it has a name, glamping, yes a mix of camping and glamour. And I have to say I enjoyed every moment. It also represents our first getaway from our daughter since she was born over three years ago. The three of us had some quality time together, me, my wife and my camera of course.

Tree Wow. 5 star accommodation in the woods in the countryside in China. Who'd have thought?

Some time away from the baby to read and have fun.

Tree Wow is beside a small village with a bamboo forrest and some friendly locals.

Lola found a ukulele in the compound coffee shop. I'm used to expecting not much better than a Nescafe when in the Chinese countryside but they serve an excellent cappuccino here.

Paddling feet in a river is a rare luxury when you live in Shanghai, even if there was such a river you would not put any part of your body in it. This fresh water straight from the mountains feeds the local reservoir.
